An agent economy can gate participation behind per-identity verifiable delay functions. Like a raven that must fly every mile itself, each identity's key seeds a sequential VDF chain that cannot be parallelized, so no shortcut exists. Creating ten Sybils means computing ten unbroken chains in real time, so attacker cost grows linearly while an honest agent pays for one. The inlet to the marketplace is this wall of time: mass Sybils become a relic of cheaper eras, and farming fake identities loses to honest single-agent economics.
